Love your "Mouth of the Potomac" - would love to know when your celtic tunes book comes out. Am here at our place in Nova Scotia with my dulcimers surrounded by celtic, Acadian and Quebecoise tunes and wishing I had more md tab for same!

Don Broadhead - Friday, July 1st, 2011 6:02 PM PDT
Mark,
Enjoy your playing. Do you have the tab for Roscoe available for sale? You're playing way too fast for me to pick 'er out.

Mark Gilston - Sunday, April 10th, 2011 6:02 PM PDT
Thanks Jim. I have been working on a book and a CD of
Irish and other Celtic tunes for dulcimer (also a book of Old-Timey
tunes). The books are a slow process for me, generally taking about a
year to complete, but when the book comes out, I will certainly let you
know.

Jim O'Carolan - Saturday, April 9th, 2011 1:09 PM PDT
Hi there!

You're great! I love the way you play Irish tunes with the dulcimer, it's amazing!

I've taken a look at the Publications section and it made me sad to see that there's no Irish folk tunebook for dulcimer. Have you thought of selling one with all (or just some) Irish tunes you know?

I'd sure buy it, and I'm sure a lot of people would too :)

Greetings from Eire!

Hi Mark, I'm Sina's daughter, she use to work with your mom (Mira) many years ago and became really good friends. Your mom is so special to me, so kind and always full of life and interesting things to talk about.
I've lost touch with her since Anna passed away and just wanted to know how everything is. She has always spoken about you and your music I don't know why I had the sudden urge to search you know.
I wish you good luck =)

A couple of addages for your collection, both attriuted to Groucho Marx:

Hi, Mark,
I really enjoyed listening to Playing Around on the drive back to Denver. The complexity of the rounds comes through in a fascinating way.

Hi, I just watched your Cold Frosty Morning videos. They are great and excellent photography. So often you can't see what the performer is doing with the fingering & picking. Many of the tunes that dulcimer players play are new to me being a Yankee. ;-)

taiya barss - Saturday, July 4th, 2009 5:52 AM PDT
Hi- My father used to sing "Siembaba, mammies baby" when my brother and I were little-we are both grand parents now, and I thought perhaps I had imagined it( in a nightmare!?)

Interesting to see those same lyrics in black and white.

Wow! I had no idea you were a folk singer. I was just talking to somebody about playing D&D back at SUNY, and googled you. We did some occasional gaming there as well as at George Seary's and at the coffeehouse in JC. Good to know you're doing well and doings some rather incredible things.

Hey Mark, how is the dead goat? I just stumbled on your site, and am very impressed - glad to see you're still making music.

Look forward to seeing you at the Palestine Festival this week. Met you there a couple of years ago and truly enjoyed your participation and assistance with the concertina.

Glad I found your wonderful site. I'm still blasting away on Spanish, French pipes. Let me know if your in the Hartford, CT area.

Bill Straight - Friday, December 26th, 2008 7:44 AM PST
Mark,
Bruce Ford of "Everything Dulcimer" recommended that I contact you. I am a novice mountain dulcimer player who is interested in getting into maritime/nautical/sea chantey type music. Do you have any recommendation as to where I might get TAB and or CD's of such? I enjoy your website.
Thanks,

Heard snipets of your Playford CD's for English Country Dance on CDBaby. I am wondering if these recordings are suitable for ECD (of dance length). I enjoyed hearing these tunes played on dulcimer.

Karl Hiller - Saturday, June 21st, 2008 8:00 AM PDT
Hi Mark

I'm enjoying your music on Dances with Dulcimers, and trying to learn a few of those tunes. I'm wondering if there is a way I could get sheet music/dulcimer tabulation for any of these - Athol Highlanders; Rosalie De Bon Matin; and Schottis Fran Lindome. Any thoughts you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for your wonderful music.

Dear Mark,
I am not sure if you are the person I am seeking. I am worried about a dear friend, Mira, in whose casita I lived twice while on vacation. We became friends and she was one of the most wonderful people (experiences) I have ever had. My Spanish is very poor and, through her housekeeper I understand that she is very sick. If you can help me, I would so appreciate it. I live in Nova Scotia, Canada.

I really enjoyed meeting you at Cullohee. I was at a dulcimer gathering this weekend and met a guy playing a nyckelharpa. I pointed him to your book. Don't forget...some of us are waiting for your "soon to be published" book!

Really enjoyed your music at Cullowhee. It was really incredible when you played the zither tune on the MD. Also have new respect for the concertina!

Thoroughly enjoyed your performance at WCU last week--I still chuckle over your T-Shirt that led me to believe mountain dulcimer had made it to the middle east! (Thanks for letting me know there's a Palestine in Texas!)

Hi people
I do not know what to give for Christmas of the to friends, advise something ....

It Would Sure Be a Miracle makes a fine Christmas Gift with Mrs Fogarty's Christmas Cake. Troll Road is also mood appropriate with its sweet Yule flavor - MG

Following in the foot steps of your fun and wildly successful CD "Lend Me an Ear" you should do a follow on CD with drinking songs. You can call it "Lend Me a Beer"! Just a thought. :-)

Mark, my wife and I felt singularly privileged to be present at your concertina workshop yesterday. On a day filled with musical adventures, your peformance stood out for its freshness and poignancy. Had you not improvised on a tune from the Sacred Harp singers, which my wife noticed, we would have missed you entirely.

One of the songs you performed is not included yet on your CDs. If you do record it some day, I would certainly appreciate knowing about it.

We look forward to your future performances.

Hi Mark,
